This program was created with the aim of increasing the use of markedly Azorean products in the preparation of typical regional dishes, without prejudice to quality and innovation, which is always important to implement. The purpose of the PARH is to promote competitiveness and innovation in the Azorean restaurant and hotel sector, through the use of products with the «Azores Brand» seal and the use of regional fruit and vegetable products.

Recipients

Sole proprietors, individual limited liability establishments, commercial companies and cooperatives, who carry out accommodation or catering activities and similar activities in the Region, included in divisions 55 and 56 of the Portuguese Classification of Economic Activities (CAE-Rev. 3).

Average time to perform

Maximum period of 30 days for the analysis of applications.

Conditions of Access for promoters

Promoters who cumulatively meet the following conditions may apply:

  • Be legally constituted;
  • Comply with the legal conditions necessary for the exercise of the respective activity;
  • Have a regularized situation with the Tax and Customs Authority and Social Security or be covered by an agreement to regularize the contributory or tax situation;
  • Have organized accounting, when legally required.

Obligations of the promoters:

  • Advertise the attribution of this support on the menu and in the establishment, explicitly and visibly to customers;
  • Comply with the legal conditions necessary for the exercise of the activity;
  • Deliver, within the established deadlines, all the elements requested by the entity;
  • Maintain organized accounting, when required;
  • Keep all documents that can prove the information properly organized.

Entrepreneurs must register on the comercioeindustria.azores.gov.pt website, for subsequent submission of applications.

Notes/exceptions:

Eligible expenses:

  • Eligible expenses are expenses with the acquisition of Azorean products with the "Azores Brand" seal;
  • Eligible expenses also include expenses with the acquisition of regional fruit and vegetable products, marketed by regional producers, holders of the "Fruit and Vegetable Producer Number", issued by the competent services in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

Ineligible expenses:

  • Amounts relating to the payment of VAT;
  • Are not included in an invoice, to be issued under the terms defined by the legislation in force;
  • That appear on an invoice issued more than six months ago in relation to the date of application for this support;
  • That they are included in an invoice that does not clearly and unequivocally identify that the product subject to invoicing is a product certified with the "Azores Brand" seal and/or the "Fruit and Vegetable Producer Number" issued by the competent services in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. (In this case, the promoter may attach to the invoice a complementary document, issued by the supplier, that demonstrates this condition.

Note: The roulottes because they are not permanent.

Additional Information

Through the PARH, restaurants and hotels in the Azores can benefit from financial support - between 10% and 20% and with an overall annual limit of 15,000.00 thousand euros per company - in the expenses incurred with the acquisition of products with the «Azores Brand» seal.

Nature and amount of support:

  • The financial support to be granted takes the form of a non-refundable subsidy, corresponding to 30% of the amount relating to the purchase of Azorean products with the "Azores Brand" seal and the acquisition of regional fruit and vegetable products;
  • In the case of Azorean products with certification «PGI - Protected Geographical Indication», «PDO - Protected Designation of Origin», «DOC - Controlled Designation of Origin» or «Handicrafts of the Azores», the financial support referred to in the previous paragraph is increased by 40%;
  • Invoices must clearly and unequivocally identify that the product being invoiced is a product recognised within the scope of these certifications, and the managing body must verify that the product in question meets the necessary attributes for that condition;
  • The financial support cannot exceed the annual amount of 7,500.00 thousand euros per establishment, up to a maximum annual amount of 15,000.00 euros per company.

It is considered to:

  • "Establishment" means a fixed and permanent facility located in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, where one or more economic activities are carried out, exclusively or mainly, on a regular and professional basis;
  • 'undertaking' means any entity engaged in an economic activity consisting in the offering of goods or services on a given market, irrespective of its legal status and mode of operation.

Payments:

Payments are made by bank transfer to the promoter's bank account, to be indicated in the application form.

Note: During the financial year, up to a maximum of four applications per company may be submitted.
