Comparticipação Refeições Escolares_School Meal Contribution

Meal distribution system during school holidays and breaks:

  • Lunch during school holidays and breaks consists of soup, a main course, bread, and a piece of fruit or dessert;
  • The cost for beneficiaries during holidays and breaks remains the same as during the school term, unless a different strategy is determined to better suit the family;
  • Lunch is provided on weekdays in the same manner as it would be during the school term.

What I need

    Allocation Procedure

    1. Request lunch allocation during holidays and breaks from the school administrative unit.
    2. The administrative unit compiles requests, identifying the name, address, and school social action tier, forwarding the information to the Azores Social Security Institute (ISSA), IPRA.
    3. The ISSA, IPRA, ensures lunch availability through the local social response network.
    4. The ISSA, IPRA, may establish other strategies better suited to the family’s needs.

When to do

    Variable, depending on the dates of the school calendar.

    Dates for acquiring passwords (March 24th to April 4th):

    • For the Easter school break, the sale of tickets runs from 8:30 am on March 24 until 4 pm on April 4.

Recipients

This service is intended for children and young people attending preschool and compulsory education institutions that are part of the Regional Education System on São Miguel Island.

Where to Apply

The initial application must be submitted to the educational unit where the student is enrolled.

School meal contributions are paid exclusively by parents/guardians through the following:

  • Social Security Treasury Offices;
  • RIAC Stores.

Bank transfers are not accepted as a payment method.

Applicable Legislation

Regional Legislative Decree No. 32/2023/A - First amendment to Regional Legislative Decree No. 5/2014/A, of March 28, which establishes the lunch distribution system during holiday periods and school breaks.
