    Standard Request:

    • €15 (up to 25 years old)*;
    • €18 (over 25 years old).

    Shipping abroad:

    • €20 (up to 25 years old)**;
    • €23 (over 25 years old).

    Urgent Request:

    • €30 (up to 25 years old);
    • €33 (over 25 years old).

    Shipping abroad:

    • €45 (up to 25 years old);
    • €48 (over 25 years old).

    Extremely Urgent Request:

    • €50 (up to 25 years old);
    • €53 (over 25 years old).

    Notes:

    *First request up to 1 year with domestic delivery – Free

    **First request up to 20 days with international delivery – €10

Average Processing Time

Standard Request:

  • If you do not receive the PIN letter within 30 days, you should contact the services.

Urgent Request:

  • 3 days for Mainland Portugal;
  • 4 days for Madeira and the islands of São Miguel, Faial, Pico, Santa Maria, and Terceira in the Azores;
  • 5 days for the islands of Graciosa, São Jorge, Flores, and Corvo in the Azores;
  • 5 days for Europe;
  • 7 days for the rest of the world.

Extremely Urgent Request:

  • Delivery on the same day (for requests made by 11 a.m.);
  • Delivery the next day (for requests made after 11 a.m.).

You can collect it at:

  • In Lisbon – Service Desk Registos Expo at Campus da Justiça, Building J (weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.);
  • In PortoPorto Citizen's Shop (weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).

Validity

  • Until the age of 25: 5 years;
  • After the age of 25: 10 years;
  • Brazilian citizens benefiting from the Equality of Rights and Duties Statute under the Porto Seguro Treaty: Validity corresponds to the Residence Card's expiration date, not exceeding the period set by the citizen's age.

Assignment of a New Civil Identification Number

It may be requested in the following cases:

  • Identity Theft;
  • Forgery;
  • Use of Another Person's Document.

And provided that:

  • Documentary evidence is provided, i.e., through an Order from the President of the Board of the Public Registry and Notary Institute.
  • The respective identification document is valid.
